PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY DISCUSSION IN FORUM

thnx Henry for input....reg the inner personality attitudes, I hv gone thru ur post like, low angle:most powerful, dominant, commanding; high angle-submissive etc; eye level-approachable,friendly etc....and the verb 'could be perceived' is not clear to me relating to the adjectives.

-For a novice closely using high angle may either LOOK image distortive i.e. foreshortening....particularly nose reaching out from the face...Portraiture, with angle of view and focal length is a matter of practice. For a full length going 6 feet is still a problem for a photographer for a full length portrait, whether to stand, half bow down or sit down and which focal length (it comes 35mm in 35mm format, which in my opinion is not ideal for full length portrait, as shown in the sketch in the beginning of the post)For bust, it may be alright.

-Reg perspective: this is the art of making some objects or people in a picture look further away than others....here I agree with ur point of space....but if a photographer determines different lengths from the subject, then focal length play a great role rather than moving closer or further from the subject as with prime or fixed focal length lenses....so zooming in and out and changing the focal length maintaing from his particular chosen place makes it necessary to get a correct perspective of the person being photographed. That may define the point of space between the subject and his background. Once again I thnk u.
